近代中国“边疆学”概念提出与传播的历史考察

A Historical Investigation on the Proposal and Dissemination of the Concept of "Study on Frontier" in Modern China

就目前所见,"边疆学"一词作为学术概念最早见于1933年6月出版的《殖边月刊》第一卷第十二期。1936年1月,顾颉刚先生据冯家昇先生旧作修订的《〈禹贡〉学会研究边疆计划书》中所用之"边疆学",是该词作为学术概念在论著中出现的最早记录。因顾先生的关系,这一概念还在燕京大学边疆问题研究会《成立宣言》、《我国边疆学之内外研究略史》、《中国边疆学会丛书总序》中多次出现。1939年3月至6月,杨成志先生拟定《国立中山大学文学院边疆学系组织计划纲要》,首次建议在我国高校设置边疆学系,希望把边疆学建成一个学科,但未获批准。顾先生的"边疆学"概念与杨先生的有区别也有联系,共同点之一是都与外患紧迫密切相关。不过,时人对"边疆学"一词兴趣不大,人们普遍认可和接受的是"边政学","边疆学"一词于是长期淡出了国人的视野。

For now, the term ＂the study on frontier＂, as an academic concept, was firstly proposed in monthly Journal of Zhi Bian （volume I, No. 12）, which was published in June 1933. In January1936, the term ＂study on frontier＂ as an academic concept, was used by Gu Jiegang in his book prospectus for frontier research of＇ Yu Gong＇ Institute, revised on the basis of previ- ous works of Feng Jiasheng. It was the earliest record in academic works. On account of Gu Jiegang, this concept was repeatedly mentioned in works of Frontier Study Seminar of Peking University, like Declaration of Establishrrvent, Brief History of Frontier Research at Home and Broad, Preface of Series Published by Institute of Frontier. From March to June in 1939, Yang Chenzhi drafted a document called the Organizational Outline of the Department of Frontier Study, the College of Literature And Art, Na- tional Sun Yat -sen University, suggesting establishing the department of study on frontier in Chinese universities. However, the suggestion was not approved. The concepts of Mr. Gu and Mr. Yang were different in spite of their connections, but they shared something in common in terms of foreign aggressions. However, people at that time were actually interested in ＂the study of fron- tier policies＂ rather than ＂the study on frontier＂ so that the latter slid into obscurity for a long time.
