An Analysis of the Translation of Culture-loaded Words in The Analects of Confucius from the Perspective of Horizon of Expectation

以英国汉学家亚瑟.韦利的《论语》英译本为例,从接受美学理论中的读者期待视野角度,以文化负载词"仁"、"礼"、"孝"和"君子"为例,对《论语》中文化负载词的英译进行分析,以期西方读者对文化负载词有更深刻的认识以及能够更好地理解《论语》,从而达到促进文化交流的目的。

This paper analyzes the English translation of culture-loaded words in The Analects of Confucius translated by British Sinologist Arthur Waley from the perspective of readers＇ horizon of expectation by taking examples like＂Ren＂,＂Li＂,＂Xiao＂,＂Junzi＂,with the wish of helping western readers to have a better understanding of the culture-loaded words in The Analects and finally achieving the purpose of promoting culture exchange.
