文学之所以为文学,形式乃是第一位的。真正的好作品,不仅能在思想内容上给予人启迪,同样,它的形式也必须十分出彩。余华同样也作出了相应的努力:小说《活着》拥有精致的语言、细致的人物刻画和曲折的故事情节及戏剧性。但是这些特质并不能掩盖它存在的缺点:拘泥于传统的平铺直叙的叙事手法,而未能使小说的节奏性、张力和主题的悲剧性有进一步的提升。
