The continuously development of the theory of collaterals from the ancient times to modern times was reviewed to evolve in-depth understanding of the collaterals structure and function of the characteristics on the basis of collateral disease theory. The unique combination of diagnosis and treatment of coronary heart disease and the syndrome differentiation should from aspects including the emptiness of collaterals, collaterals acute shortage and collaterals blockage. The treatment should be heart-collateral- nourishing, heart-collateral-warming and collateral-dredging and pain-reliveing, which has opened a new effective way for the clinical treatment of coronary artery disease with unique academic values.
