Medical Reform Plan to Cover Serious Illnesses Major serious illnesses would be covered by state healthcare and medi- cal assistance in China, according to the country＇s new healthcare reform plan, released on April 18,2012. Eight kinds of illnesses, includ- ing children＇s leukemia, children＇s congenital heart disease and kidney disease, would be added to the system, and 12 diseases, including lung cancer, esophageal cancer and stomach cancer, would be covered by the new medical insurance and assistance plans.
