SA N Y Heav y Indu st r y C o.,Ltd.a nd Zoomlion Heavy Industry Science & Technology Development Co.,Ltd.,two giants in China's engineering machinery industry,have grown fast in the past 20 years,and now they even begin to buy famous international companies which were once the leaders of the industry.Interestingly,both companies are located in Changsha,and it's not hard to find that their relationship is somehow delicate and dramatic.They seem to respect each other,but the fierce competition between them has never ended.They invite each other's clients to their own headquarters,compete on major acquirement cases,and fight in the 'arms race' in the domestic market through international mergers.Such relationship can be treated as a 'growth competition'.Being in the same city,their similarities in cultural identity and interpersonal relations have created an atmosphere of competitive 'learning'.They compete with and learn from each other,and such process accelerates innovation in development strategy,product technical features,marketing channels and customer services,thus leading to their fast development.
