二三十年代“中基会”对中国学术研究之资助

The Financial Support of China Foundation to Chinese Academic Research in 1920s and 1930s

以美国退赔庚款设置的中基会确定了明确的分配款额方针及原则,制定了严密的分配章程,对科学研究事业进行了大规模资助。为了将资助科学研究计划落到实处,它设立科学研究教授席、科学研究补助金及奖励金,对中央研究院、中国科学社等学术机构进行经费补助,还创办独立的学术研究机关,并在大学设立研究教授与科学教授讲席,资助优秀青年出国留学,极大推进了中国现代科学研究之开展。

Founded with the money of the Boxer Indemnity Scholarship Program, China Foundation for the Promotion of Education and Culture （the China Foundation） extensively supported Chinese ac- ademic research in the period of Republic of China. With its specific fund distribution policies and principles established, the Foundation set up research professorships, grant and incentive system for research. It established independent academic research institutes, set up research and scientific profes- sorships, and provided fellowships for prominent youth. With its well-deserved reputation and out- standing performance, the Foundation can be regarded as an example for the contemporary Chinese counterparts in supporting academic research.
