试论ESP、ELE、CBI及双语教学和大学英语的关系

On the Relationships among ESP,ELE,CBI,Bilingual Instruction and College English

ESP(专门用途英语)、ELE(英语通识教育)、CBI(内容依托式教学)及双语教学和大学英语教学改革紧密相关,是大学英语教学发展的方向。本文在简要回顾这些概念的基础上,厘清它们与大学英语教学的关系。作者认为将来大学英语可以分为三个层次,即:(1)通用英语学习层次(相当于目前的以语言知识和技能为主体的大学英语);(2)大学英语通识教育及专门用途英语层次;(3)双语教学层次。

By reviewing the concepts of ESP(English for Specific Purpose),ELE(English for Liberation Education),CBI(Content-Based Instruction) and Bilingual Instruction and analyzing their relationships with one another and with College English,this paper attempts to prove that College English can be divided into three levels,namely,core English learning level,which is considered as English for General Purpose,ELE & ESP level,and Bilingual Instruction level.This paper further points out that ELE and ESP are both teaching approaches within the CBI model and can complement each other and they both will be trends of College English teaching.
