郑韩故城周邻地区存在众多的河流、沼泽等自然天堑。故城附近除了溱水、洧水外,还有潩水、郐水等河流。从大的地理环境观察,故城北有黄河,南有颍水、汝水,西有伊水、洛水,东有济水,东北有圃田泽、荥泽等。这些河流、沼泽构成了郑韩故城的自然屏障,加强了都城地区的军事防御能力。

There were a lot of rivers and swamps around Original Capital of Zheng and Han. In the neighborhood, there were riv- ers such as Yi River, Kuai River, Zhen River, and Wei River, etc. From the macro view of geographical environment, in the north there was Huang River; in the south there were Ying River and Ru River; in the west there were Yi River and Luo River; in the east, there was Ji River, in the northeast there were Putian swamp, Xing swamp, etc. These rivers and swamps form the natural protective wall for the Town, and enforce the military defense function of the capital area.
