The Discipline of English in Hebei Province: A Survey

河北省高校英语学科调查表明,目前英语学科点规模发展过快,但基础较为薄弱;师资队伍职业发展水平不高;学生语言技能薄弱,毕业后竞争力不强。针对以上问题,本文建议应该适当控制河北省英语学科规模、提高教师学科意识和职业发展定位意识、扩大专业教学内涵、开展研究式学习,以便提高英语专业学生综合能力。

A survey of the discipline of English in Hebei Province yields the following findings： The discipline suffers from overexpansion and weak foundation; the teachers are confronted with many difficulties in professional development; the students still need to improve their comprehensive competitiveness. Therefore, the discipline of English in Hebei Province should be under careful control; the teachers need to be reoriented in professional devel- opment and the students will be more competitive via reasonable expansion of the curriculum and research-based learning.
