理雅各的《论语》英译本出版于殖民时期的香港。通过考察其英译《论语》的缘起以及相关术语如"天""仁""德"和"贤"的翻译,揭示了理雅各作为英译者的真实文化身份——传教士。
James Legge’s English version of Lunyu was first published in the colonial Hong Kong.A survey of his motive in translating as well as the specific renderings of some important terms like Tian（天）,REN（仁）、 De（德）and Xian（贤）expounds on his true cultural identity as a translator——a missionary.
