Studies on the age and growth of Mystus guttatus

观察珠江斑鳠的胸鳍和鳃盖骨，研究其年龄特征、渔获物年龄组成和体长、体重组成，并对其体长与鳃盖骨长、体长与体重的关系，以及生长规律进行了分析。其年轮形成时间为１２ 月～翌年３ 月；体长与鳃盖骨长的关系式为Ｌ＝ ３４ ．７６ Ｒ＋ ０ ．４５３ ３ ，体长与体重的关系式为 Ｗ＝ ０ ．０３２ Ｌ３ ．１８７ ２ 。生长Ｖｏｎ Ｂｅｒｔａｌａｎｆｆｙ方程分别为Ｌｔ ＝ １５６ ．７５〔１ － ｅ－ ０ ．０８９（ｔ－ ０ ．０１６ ８）〕和Ｗｔ ＝ ３１ １９３ ．１７〔１ － ｅ－ ０ ．０８９（ ｔ－ ０ ．０１６ ８）〕３ ．１８７ ２ 。还讨论了年轮形成原因和生长特性，并对合理利用自然资源和生产养殖提出建议。

Some biological characteristics of spotted longbarbel catfish Mystus guttatus were studied, including the age features of opercule and pectoral fin, the age composition of the catch from Pearl River and its branches. And the relationships of body length with opercule radius and with body weight were analysed, as well as the growth ring formed during December to next February. The results show that the optimum material for age determination is the opercule; the length-opercule radius relationship can be expressed as L=34.76R+0.453 3. The length weight relationship equation is W=0.032L 3.187 2 . The growth of spotted longbarbel catfish cope with Von Bertalanffy formula.The growth equations of body length and weight are respectively L t=156.75〔1-e -0.089(t-0.016 8) 〕and W t=31 193.17〔1-e -0.089(t-0.0168) 〕 3.1872 . The reasons for growth ring forming and growing characteristics were discussed. Meanwhile, a suggestion is put forward that for the spotted longbarbel catfish growing in natural waters, the fishing should not be carried out until they grow to 6 years old and 3 kg of body weight, and for those cultured by individuals, the fishing can be considered after the body weight reaches 2.5 kg.
