The paper introduces the theory basis of close connection between wheel base-span ratio of the overhead travelling crane and bridge self-locking, details the recommended value regarding wheel base-span ratio in related technical materials at home and abroad, with detailed statistical analysis on same kind of products in the world, and expounds the relation between wheel base-span ratio and biting rail. It is indicated that if the wheel base-span ratio is low, the product manufacturing and installation process shall be made sure to strictly meet all the requirements.
