从语言功能看可译性与不可译性

On Translatability and Untranslatability from Perspectives of Linguistic Function

文章从语言功能的角度进行可译性和不可译性的研究。首先对可译性和不可译性作了简要的阐释和分析;接着从认知功能、文化功能和美学功能的视角,对可译性与不可译性问题进行深入探讨,指出在翻译中,对于美学上的绝对不可译性无法强求,对于文化上以及认知表达上的相对不可译性则可以灵活变通,化不可译为可译,从而最准确地表达翻译对象的含义,促进语言文化的交流。

This paper discusses the problem of translatability and untranslatability from perspectives of lin- guistic function. At first, it analyzes and explains the conception of translatability and untranslatability; and then deeply studies translatability and untranslatability from perspectives of cognitive, cultural and aesthetic functions. It points out that in translation we can not deal with aesthetic absolute untranslatability, but handle cognitive and cultural relative untranslatability, change untranslatability into translatability so as to contribute to lanzuage and cultural communication.
