从关联理论看《老友记》字幕翻译的缩减策略

Reduction Strategy in Subtitling from the Aspect of Relevance Theory on a Case Study of Friends

字幕翻译是针对影视作品的翻译,具有不可回看性并受到时间和空间的限制,因此缩减是字幕翻译的一个主要策略。本文以《老友记》为例从关联理论的角度提出缩减策略的三种翻译方法:浓缩法、概译法和省略法。

Subtitling is a unique form of translation which is multi-media defined and the going-on plot can not be looked back again and again as reading books.Also,it is constrained by time and space.Thus reduction is the major strategy for subtitling.Based on relevance theory,this paper puts forward three subtitling methods of reduction: condensation,reductive paraphrasing and deletion on a case study of Friends,in the hope of providing guidelines to subtitling.
