Research on the Translation of Culture-specific Items in English Newspapers and Journals under the Guidance of the Functional Theories of Translation

英文报刊专有项的翻译是一项复杂的语言活动。译者与读者有着相对独立又相互作用的地位。由此形成一个各种因素都起着相互制约作用的活跃的活动场。从文化专有项翻译研究的角度出发,阐明了文化专有项和功能翻译法的含义,结合实例探讨了翻译技巧,旨在使译者能够准确运用翻译策略译出更加精美的文章。

The translation of culture-specific items in English newspapers and journals is an arduous and painstaking language activity, in which translators and the readers have played a very important part in terms of relative independence and mutual interaction, therefore, it provides a dynamic environment for its mutual restriction, resulted from different kinds of factors. From the perspective of the translation of culture-specific items, this paper introduces the function of culture-specific items and the functional theories of translation and discusses the translation of these items with samples and the detailed explanation with a view to enable the translators to get a better knowledge of determining the precise meanings and the ways of expression in translation and bring about more satisfied versions.
