This article offers an overview of the spirit of the College of Architecture and Urban Planning of Tongji University in its sixty-year history. The spirit of Tongji CAUP can be summarised in the following words： Focus on Rationality and Practicality, Encouraging Individualism and Innovation, Emphasis on History and Culture, Pursuit of the Zeitgeist, Attention to the Essence of Disciplines, Promotion of Professional Expansion, Emphasis on Social Practice and Leading Academic Trends.
