司马光哲学研究在现代学术中虽非亮点却争议颇大。改革开放以来,学术界围绕司马光思想是否来源于荀学,其气论是否可以定位为气本论,在其气论中虚是否可以与气相等同及司马光与理学之关系等问题展开了激烈的讨论。这些讨论虽然有力地推动了既往的研究,但也在司马光思想的归属、司马光气论中的虚气关系及其与同时代气论哲学之关系,司马光气论独特的理论价值和贡献,司马光在理学思想史上的定位等问题上为新时期的司马光哲学研究留下了进一步探讨的空间和诠释的可能。

Study on the philosophy of SIMA Guang though is not hot topic of research, but it is a controversial issue in modem academ- ic. Since reforming and opening, the academic community spread out intense discussion on whether SIMA Guang＇s ideas from Xunzi~ thoughts, his thoughts about ether can be positioned a ether as the ontology, in his thought of virtual and ether phase equivalent, as well as the relationship between His ideas and ttle neo - confucianism. These discussions while effectively promoted the previous stud- ies, but left many issues to be discussed, such as related to his thought, and the relationship between the void and ether, and at the same time generation ether theory, the relationship between the oretical value and contribution of unique thoughts , positioning of his thought in the history and so on. All these made his philosophy thought has the possibility and necessity of further study.
