摘要
《一朵浮云》作为乔伊斯众多名篇之一,其主人公小钱德勒有着复杂而又典型的性格特点。作者赋予他女性化的外型,衬托了其敏感、天真、怯弱的天性,对于和"老朋友"加拉赫会面前后的心理刻画展现了一个情感丰富,性格多面的人物灵魂。通过分析他的心路历程,展现了其多面的人格,其中有高雅,也有世俗;有天真,也有势利,种种因素最终伴随着"见老朋友"这一事件的发生,引发了小钱德勒的情绪崩溃。
A Little Cloud is one of Joyce＇s most famous short stories. The hero Little Chandler is a typical man of complicated personality. Joyce endows him with a feminine appearance to present his sensitiveness, innocence and timidity. The description of his psychology before and after his meeting with the exfriend/ journalist Gallaher displays his exuberant feelings and multi-dimensional personality. This paper reveals his complicated personality through an analysis of his thoughts and feelings. His various characteristics, including his elegance, worldliness, innocence and snobbery, interact with each other, leading to his emo-tional collapse after the meeting with the exfriend Gallaher.
