Some Thoughts on the Dividing Line of Xia and Shang Cultures

从夏商文化在夏商之际地域分布的变化看,夏商分界当在南关外型商文化第一、二组之间。二里头四期晚段文化是最晚阶段的夏文化,其绝对年代没有进入早商。

According to a study on the distribution of the Erlitou culture and the Shang culture and its spatial change during the transition from the late Xia to the early Shang Dynasty, the author argues that archaeologically the transition should occur between the first phase and second phase of the Nanguanwai subtype of the Shang Culture. The second half of Erlitou Phase IV should be viewed as the latest period of the Xia culture and earlier than the Early Shang Dynasty in terms of its chronological position.
