The status of intestinal development and mature as a key factor is restricting the growth of young animals. Weaning is a stress progress that the piglets had to suffer, and the target of weaning stress is namely the intestinal gut, especially results in the severe damage to small intestine tissue. So the paper explored the mechanisms of intestinal injury and reestablishment induced by weaning stress in piglets from the views of intestinal morphology and configuration, the activities of enzymes associated with the digestive and metabolic functions, intestinal mucosal barrier, the expression of intestinal genes and proteins, stress signaling pathways activated by weaning, the expression and regulation of some stress protein families, and so on. The purpose of this paper was to provide the theoretical basis of improving intestinal health and accelerating fast growth in piglets by the measures of nutritional regulations.
