The reserve of effect of defamiliarizaiton helps describe translation practice, especially his or her spread of subjectivity with rich translation artificial techniques, of the dual identity of translator as well as culture creation. Fortress Besieged, a Chinese modem novel composed by Qian Zbongshu, wins high appraise at home and abroad. However, the deep culture held in Fortress Besieged makes numerous translators hard to follow. The English version by Jeanne Kelly and Nathan K. Mao is not certainly flawless, but it could be a preeminent production. The probes into the strategies of translation on the efamiliarization effect enable the scholars to have a clear knowledge with it.
