From 2012-06-04 to 2012-06-08, the 25th World Gas Conference, with the theme of 'Gas: Sustaining Future Global Growth', was held in Kuala Lumpur,Malaysia. The attendees exchanged and summarized the development of the natural gas sector from 2009 to 2012 and its future trend. With its rapid development in the world, natural gas will play a more important role in future energy development: Natural gas is evolving into an irreplaceable clean energy in the primary energy mix; The pattern of supply and demand of natural gas in the world will be changed following the exploitation of unconventional natural gas, which becomes an important factor in promoting the development of natural gas; In the next 20 years, the demand for LNG will more than double, the export of LNG from North America will influence the world trade pattern; With respect to global natural gas prices, a regional pricing system prevails, and a unified gas price is hardly attainable in the near future; Due to increased natural gas consumption and the adjustment of the energy consumption structure, the demand for gas storage grows; Russia is implementing a new strategy for natural gas exports, but is meeting obstruction in the Nabucco pipeline project; Human resources vied for in the sector are an important driving force for the sustainable development of the natural gas industry. China, in the spotlight of this conference, will provide fresh impetus to the development of the world natural gas sector: China has tremendous potential for the development of natural gas,a vast natural gas market and rich natural gas resources, and China's supply is mainly satisfied by domestic production.
