劳伦斯被誉为植物王国的桂冠诗人,植物在他看来既具有动物的运动能力,又具有动物的灵魂或意识,因而他书写植物的诗学策略之一,便是将植物动物化,即用描写或表征动物的诗学话语来书写植物,用运动的动物话语来活化静止的植物主体,从而给读者一种奇特的审美体验或感悟。劳伦斯的植物书写赋予植物前所未有的主体地位,其深厚的哲学、历史底蕴和科学性,在植物物种加速灭绝、绿色世界濒临消亡的生态危机时代,焕发出强大的生命力,对当代美国生态诗人产生了深远的影响。
D.H.Lawrence is regarded as poet laureate of the plants kingdom.To him,plants possess,just as animals do,a power of movement as well as souls or consciousnesses.Thus one of the poetic strategies in his plants writing is to zoomorphize plants,that is to say,to depict plants by employing the poetic discourse generally used to depict or represent animals,or to animate the 'still' plant subject by employing the animal discourse of movement,thereby the reader can obtain a unique aesthetic experience or revelation.Plants thus obtain an unprecedented position of being the subject in Lawrence's plants writing,which,with its deep philosophical,historical roots and sound scientific grounds,exerts a profound influence upon contemporary American eco-poets,demonstrating a great vitality in the ecological crises of our time plagued with an accelerating extinction of plant species and a subsequent disappearance of the green world.
