Gender Differences and Cultural Rank:A Case Study of Overseas Scholars' Works like Rey Chow and Leo Ou-fan Lee

周蕾、李欧梵等海外学者的上海研究中存在着某种性别差异和文化阶位的纠葛。性别差异不仅影响了她/他们的研究路径及对性别研究方法的运用,也在相当程度决定了其对中国现代性问题的看法。两者共同地表现了对既有的主流话语的挑战,又呈现出某种"互文"、"协商"的态势。

There are some disputes between the gender differences and the cultural rank for in the Shanghai studies works of the overseas scholars such as Rey Chow and Leo Ou - fan Lee. Gender differences have not only affected their path and gender research methods but also determined their views about the modernity for a considerable extent. They both chal- lenged the mainstream discourse showing some kind of ＂inter- textuality＂ and ＂consultation＂ posture.
