Taxes and Corvee of Non-governmental Craftsmen in Xizhou in the First half of Tang Dynasty

西州民间工匠的赋役以役和杂徭为主。官府征发工匠上役有一套完整的程序,工匠除了在官府作坊中服役外,还被配去充驿丁、烽子等徭役性色役。西州民间工匠还会与百姓一同从事力役性的杂徭,而且也经常被征召杂使。

The taxes and corvee of Xizhou’s non-governmental craftsmen included Yi (役) and Zayao (杂徭) . The government levied the craftsmen in accordance with a complete set of procedure. The craftsmen served for governmental workshop as well as for posts and beacon towers as post men or beacon tower men. Moreover,they also served to be Zayao (杂徭) like common people and Zashi (杂役) .
