Quite recently digital technologies have found their way into urbanism. This article focuses on the lack of social perspective in parametric urbanism, and a plan for the waterfront at the IJ Bank in Amsterdam. This article argues that we need another language to deal with human habitat. First of all we need to deal with what is specific for computer languages, and what is specific for the humanities. From there we start to understand that to design an urban plan means to open up perspectives on the world. At the end of the line we find very different worlds, one not comparable to the other.
