《伤寒论》以四方神兽命名的方剂,惟缺朱雀汤之方名。关于此方的存废,历来医家多赞同确有其方,然其究竟何方则莫衷一是。有医家认为其为十枣汤,也有医家认为是黄连阿胶汤。根据文献及医理,朱雀汤是黄连阿胶汤更为妥切。

＂Treatise on Febrile Diseases＂ includes all prescription,s named with four god beasts except the Zhuque Decoction. Most doctors in ancient times agreed that the Zhuque Decoction indeed existed, but without agreement on what it was. Some considered the Zhuque Decoction as Shizao Decoction that com- prised ten Chinese dates in each formula, and some thought it was Huanglian E＇jiao Decoction that com- prised Coptis chinensis and donkey-hide glue. Given the literature and principles of medical science, it is more reasonable to regard Zhuque Decoction as Huanglian E＇jiao Decoction.
