Through the introduction of mud loaded packing seal system, the CMS2000 layered shear seal system, the disadvantage in application of conventional packing seal in the pump and the application of the pros and cons of soft pack- ing seal with conventional mechanical sealing system in a closed loop pump were discribed. The mud loaded packing seal system had an effective solution to the high cost of equipment maintenance, maintenance of higher frequency problem, en- sure the long period of equipment operation and avoid the resultant device parking.
