先进和优秀是中国共产党的特征和追求,是共产党员先锋模范作用的体现,是共产党员的价值取向。创先争优必须确立具有引领作用的先进和优秀具体标准,激励全体共产党员永葆生机活力,充分展现共产党员的先锋模范作用,实现推动科学发展、促进校园和谐、服务广大师生、加强基层组织的要求和目标。

Progressiveness and excellence are the features and pursuit of the Communist Party of China （CPC）, the manifestation of the vanguard and model role of the CPC members, as well as the value orientation of them. To strive for progressiveness and excellence, we must establish specific standards for guiding progressiveness and excel- lence, to motivate the energy and vitality of the CPC members, and to fully display the vanguard and model role of the CPC members so as to meet the requirements and achieve the goals of enhancing scientific development, pro- moting campus harmony, serving faculty and students and strengthening the grass-roots CPC organizations.
