Acquisition of core vocabulary is the base of English acquisition. The author firstly analyzes the English teaching status and basic information processing of vocabulary in primary schools, and then makes an account of methods to memorize words by processing basic meaning, pronouncing words and using cognitive schema. The methods are conducive for learners to form speaking habits gradually, to develop their capacities to retrieve and produce words by sound activation, and finally to achieve the goal of building up their vocabulary.
