On the Usages of the Particle[tsai]在in Yingshan Dialect

英山方言的"在"可用于动词前,也可用于句末;可单用,也可与其他成分配合使用,表示不同的意义。从英山方言句末"在"的使用情况看,"在"的语法化链条较为清晰。本文认为英山方言句末的"在"属于本方言的自主创新,而白话文献中的句末"在"有可能是反映了与英山同类方言的语言特点。

This paper describes the usages of [tsai] in Yingshan dialect, and discusses its origin. It also compares the usages of [tsai] with those found in colloquial literature and other dialects. It shows a clear grammaticalization chain of the sentence-final [ tsai]. The paper maintains that the sentence-final [ tsai] of Yingshan dialect is a result of linguistic innovation while that in the colloquial literature may show the linguistic features of other dialects＇ similar to Yingshan dialect.
