On the Revisions of Modern Chinese Dictionary

《现代汉语词典》从初编到现在已经过了半个世纪,其修订是应时代的要求进行的。文章回顾了《现代汉语词典》从第1版到第5版所走过的路程,阐述了其各版本修订的重点。第2版对政治性内容进行了修订,第3版准确、科学地贯彻了《普通话异读词审音表》,第4版增补了大量新词新义,第5版全面标注了词类并对词典体例加以创新。

It has been half a century since the publication of the first edition of Modern Chinese Dictionary.During the years,the dictionary has been revised several times in response to the call of the times.This paper looks back at the first edition of the dictionary and the succeeding four revised editions,elaborating on the focal points of each revision.To be more specific,the second edition focuses on revising entries that are politically inappropriate,the third edition on the precise and scientific implementation of The Authorized Table of Mandarin Words with Variant Pronunciations,the fourth edition on the large-scale inclusion of neologisms and words with new meanings,and the fifth edition on the complete notation of the parts of speech of the entries and the innovation of the dictionary format.
