Points out the troublesome problems of scraper and belt conveyors are difficuh start, unbalanced distribution of load over electro-motors on the head and tail of conveyor, and poor reliability of overload protection device. Introduces the working principle, structure, performance and application scope of several soft-starters, such as centrifugal clutch, controlled fluid sticky clutch and controlled planetary differential-speed gear, and makes a comparison among them.
