The concept and its mor- phological manifestation of cotton pre- mature senescence were introduced. And physiological and biochemical changes in premature senescence cotton were an- alyzed in detail. Cotton premature senes- cence was divided into different types according to the reasons that cause the senescence. The physiological mecha- nism of cotton premature senescence was mainly discussed, such as imbal- ances of photo-carbon, nutrition, source and sink, endogenetic hormones and en- ergy consumption by the extrinsic gene for transgenic cotton.
