Three criteria needed to be considered in the application of reciprocating diaphragm pump, which were cavitation, overload and over weighing, were introduced in this article. From the principle of volume metering, some simple and feasible methods were provided. These methods, which are supported with good theories, have been verified in practice, thus, they can be referenced in the selection of reciprocating diaphragm pump in engineering application.
