[ Objective ] The purpose was to cultivate Poa annua L. using soil modified by maturity corn straw, and study its effects on growth of Poa annua L.. [ Method] Three treatments and one control(CK) were designed, thereinto, maturity corn straw: garden soil was 1 : 2, 1 : 3, 1:4 in T1, T2, T3 treatments resp. , and peat: soil was 1:3 in CK. Mass growth included plant height, leaf width and average daily mass growth, physiological indices included chlorophyll content, POD activity, soluble sugar content and soluble protein content. [ Result] Plant's quality, chlorophyll content, soluble sugar content, soluble protein content and POD activity of Poa annua L. cultivated on substance com- posed by corn straw were very significant higher than CK, showing maturity corn straw had promoting function on it, and this function's se- quence was in order: T2 〉 T1 〉 T3. [ Conclusion] In this paper, maturity corn straw can replace peat used for Poa pratensis L. 's cultivation, among them, the ratio of maturity corn straw to garden soil 1 : 4 is the most reasonable, because its grass' s quality and contents of chlorophyll, soluble sugar, soluble protein and POD activity are close to C K, and slightly superior to CK, its quality is much better, and which can reduce the cost of building up lawn matrix, and does not increase the burden of the management, according with the actual needs of mass production.
