摘要
从高尔吉亚到西塞罗的古典修辞学家都认为修辞学能够运用哲学真理塑造美好的共同体,而奥古斯丁否定了古典修辞学的乐观信念。本文尝试分析奥古斯丁所批评的修辞之恶,以及他对修辞学之共同体意识的具体诠释。
The Evil of Rhetoric ： A Critique of Augustine＇ s Criticism on Rhetoric in Confessions Abstract ：The classical rhetors, from Gorgias to Cicero, all considered that the rhetoric can create a refined community through the use of philosophical truth. However, St. Augustine denied this optimistic view. This paper tries to analyze what St. Augus- tine saw as the evil of rhetoric and examines his interpretations of the consciousness of community formed by rhetoric.
