What Essence Is:An Analysis of Concept of Essence in Library Research——Library Essence Research Series No.5

从学理上对图书馆研究中的四种本质概念进行分析,结果表明:"共性"本质概念只反映了本质的部分内容;"属性"本质概念则在外延上失之宽泛;黑格尔和马克思主义哲学本质论是较为科学完整的本质理论,可作为图书馆本质研究的前提和基础,但目前在其观点的引用上还存在不少偏差,在其内涵的理解上还存在很多误读。提出图书馆研究既要重视研究结论,又要重视研究方法、研究前提,尤其不宜鄙夷"概念研究"。

The paper analyses four kinds of concepts of essence in the research of library science in China, the result shows that ＂universal＂ concept reflects only part of implication of the essence, and the ＂attribute＂ concept is too wide in extension. Only essence theory in philosophy of Hegel and Marxism are proper as a premise of research of library essence, but up to now there have been many deviations in reference citation and misunderstandings in its implication. Finally, the author proposes that not only conclusions and viewpoints but methodology and premise should be paid more attention to, and the research of concepts should also be taken seriously but not be despised in library science.
