The domestic market is still affected by a severe crisis; this is what came out from a research on footwear purchases trends carried out, in May, by the Osservatorio Mercato Italia. The results of the research, realised by the Area Studi Diomedea on behalf of Expo Riva &huh, were presented at the 78th edition of the fair. The Sitaricerca data on the purchases of Italian families in the last 2011-2012 fall/winter season highlight a drop in quantity (-2.6%,for 68.3 million pairs), with a slight, minimum rise in value (0.8%) due to the moderate increase of the average price by 2.9% - if compared to the increase in the prices of raw materials and the high added value of the products during the season of reference. The sample of lO0 visitors attending Expa Riva &huh interviewed by the Osservatorio confirmed this difficult situation, though underlining significant differences characterising months of sales, products typology and distribution channels.
