In the long term operation of the Shimen arch dam,two major problems occurred:a)the abnormal seepage through the right abutment,which was caused by impermeability failure of the high pressure tunnel reinforced concrete lining and.b)the dam heel cracking.After deep going study,analysis and monitoring and comprehensive engineering treatment,the two problems have been solved.the Shimen arch dam’s safety operation is besically ensured.
