This paper points out the most common misused geological terms are ＂lagoon＂, ＂clay mineral＂, ＂depression＂, ＂humus＂, ＂core＂, and the wrong ways to express geological time. It also discusses some unreasonable Chinese abbreviations of geological terms, such as ＂age determination＂, ＂Himalayan＂, ＂Wulff Net＂, ＂petrofabric＇, together with their correct Chinese translations and the correct way they are used. The paper also lists some commonly-misused geological terms.
