Facing with the ever growing needs of railway transportation, the rapid development of high speed and heavy haul traffic, safety transportation, service quality and capacity requirements, the railway required intelligent development. This paper analyzed the state of the research and development of foreign Intelligent Railway, described the necessity for the development of Intelligent Railway, defined the concept of Intelligent Railway, expounded the connotation and core feathers of Intelligent Railway, and discussed the contents of Intelligent Railway development.
