A Study on the Elementary and Secondary School Size in America: Controversy and Inspiration

摘要 20世纪60年代以来,美国中小学校规模一直是教育政策研究领域争论十分激烈的问题之一。较之整个20世纪学校规模不断扩大的趋势,21世纪美国中小学校规模在朝缩小的方向发展。在中小学校规模研究的争议中,占压倒优势的观点是:小规模学校比较好。这些争议给我们带来的启示是:应该从多元视角与价值来审视中小学校规模;应该权衡中小学校规模的多元影响因素;应该以育人为本作为衡量中小学校规模的根本标尺。 Since the 1960s, the elementary and secondary school size is one topic of stormy controversy in the study of educational policy in America. Compared with the trend of continual expanding of school size in the 20th century, it is downsizing in the 21st century. The landslide viewpoint among the controversy is that small school is better. The controversy provides us some reference that we should take into account it from multi-perspectives and pluralistic values, and balance many influencing factors in making decision about it, and weigh it by the idea centered on the development of students.
