'The third round of industry reform brought with it many changes to society;it has become like a net.I'm afraid this means the past methods of centralized management can no longer be used,' Haier Group CEO Zhang Ruimin told China Entrepreneur Magazine. Three years ago Ren Zhenfei advocated that those on the frontlines should be the ones who make the decisions. He pointed out that Huawei's success over the past twenty years has been due to its centralized management style;however in order to adapt to current conditions even they are learning how to delegate authority. The results of this magazine's recent survey of several enterprises shows that Chinese enterprises are about to undergo profound management reform and that the 'teacherleader' leadership style is set to become the new standard for management at a large amount of enterprises, slowly but surely replacing the old 'centralized leadership' style characterized by tight control and orders from above.
