在明末佛教诸宗交融与整合的背景下,云栖祩宏以极具圆融思想的《华严经》及华严宗思想诠解、发显净土之义,开贤净圆融之先河。他通过对《入法界品》性质的厘定、对华严圆顿教的发挥、对理事概念的新解、对一即一切的演绎等分别对净土宗的历史渊源、持名念佛、圆通内涵、心佛不二等理论进行了具体的疏通和解释,不仅为贤净会通塑造了成功的范例,而且构建了思辨高深的理论与务实践行的修法统一起来的致思模式,对明清以来探索中国佛教现代转型与复兴的实践具有重要的借鉴意义。
