中国翻译历史中的“对等”

"Equivalence" in the History of Chinese Translation

"对等"是西方翻译历史中的重要概念,它推动了西方翻译理论与实践的发展。相对来看,在中国翻译历史中"对等"似乎不是一个显性的概念。从支谦到钱钟书等学者都提出过对等翻译的概念,这些概念不但清楚地表明了从古至今中国翻译实践中"对等"的重要性,也体现了中国对等翻译在实践中的流变,以及对中国译学潜移默化的构建作用。对中国对等翻译思想的追溯,不但可以揭示中国翻译的本质,还可以深刻理解中国文化发展与翻译之间的密切关系。

＂Equivalence＂ is a key concept in the western history of translation,which enhancesthe development of western translation theories and practice.Comparatively,it is not an observable notion in the Chinese history of translation.Different notions of equivalent translation have been proposed by Chinese scholars,from Zhi Qian to Qian Zhongshu and other scholars alike,all of which manifest the importance of the concept of ＂equivalence＂ in the Chinese history of translation,demonstrate the changes happened in translation practice,and none the less constructed Chinese translation theories imperceptibly and potentially.Tracing the Chinese thinking on equivalent translation can therefore reveal the nature of Chinese translation,and profoundly understand the close relationship between the development of Chinese culture and Chinese translation.
