Objective To analysis the major healtheare risk factors and prevention measures in the departments of orthnpedics in American, and give a reference to improve the safety of orthopedics medicine in China. Method Through searching the electric databases (PubMed, EMBASE) as well as the official orthopedics web-sties of each country, and find out the regulatory documents, research reports, and evaluation forms concerned with orthopedics heahhcare risk and assessment about the orthopedics healthcare risk factors and prevention measures in America. Result America had established systemic classification methods of the orthopedics heahheare risk. Among the found references, orthopedics healthcare had four main healthcare risks: wrong- site surgery, medicine, equipment and communication errors. Conclusion Among the healtheare risks, wrong- site surgery and communication errors were discussed greatly, so that effective communication and correct site surgery are the basic of orthopedics healtheare safety.
