试论萧统之“时义”

An Analysis of “Shi Yi” of Xiao Tong

萧统《文选序》是研究《文选》选文标准的重要依据,但学界多集中于对"事出于沉思,义归乎翰藻"的理解,对其中"文之时义远矣哉"一句大多未加关注,而此句在整个序言中既上承,又下启,有提纲挈领的作用。"文之时义"中"时义"一词的理解,对于确定《文选》的选文标准具有重要意义。结合《文选序》全文,考索文、时义、清英,"时义"当指文章美好教化功能之意。再结合萧统本人的文学观及当时重华采,尚巧似,追求骈俪、声律和文采之美的文学风尚和审美追求,"文之时义"在内涵上可兼指形式上追求艺术之美、内容上注重教化之功。

Most researches on the criteria of Xiao Tong＇ s selecting model essays for the Preface to Wen Xuan focus on the understanding of ＂Shi Chu Yu Chen Si ,Yi Gui Hu Han Zao＂ rather than ＂Wen Zhi Shi Yi Yuan Yi Zai＂ in the preface, which serves as a connecting link between the preceding and the following. Wen Xuan means the se- lecting of ＂Wen＂, and Xiao Tong clearly put forward ＂Wen Zhi Shi Yi＂ in it. Therefore, the understanding of ＂Shi Yi＂ plays an important role in ascertaining the selecting criteria of the ＂Wen＂ in Wen Xuan. It is known that ＂Shi Yi＂ means the good teaching function of the essays based on researches of ＂Wen＂, ＂Shi Yi＂, ＂Qing Ying＂. By com- bining Xiao Tong＇ s literature view with the literary style and aesthetic pursuit at that time, such as emphasizing beautiful words, brief structure, rhythm and literary beauty,＂Wen Zhi Shi Yi＇can also refer to pursuing artistic beauty in the form and focusing on humanization in the content.
