Ambiguity Study on Restrictive and Non-restrictive Attributive Clauses

限定性与非限定性定语从句从形式上到语法功能上都有着鲜明的区别,但基于其语法结构特征和不同写作者的写作水平、写作习惯等原因,常常致使两类从句被混淆。基于此,本文系统、深入地论述了非限定性和限定性定语从句之歧义产生的原因、歧义的分类、分析歧义及避免歧义的方法,以期给广大英语学习者、研究者及阅读者以一定的启发。

There are distinct differences between restrictive and non-restrictive attributive clauses from the forms to the grammatical functions.However,the grammatical structure characteristics,writing levels and writing habits of different writers may often result in the confusion of the two types of clauses.The paper systematically penetrates into the causes and the classification of ambiguity between restrictive and non-restrictive clauses,analyzes the ambiguity and the methods of avoiding ambiguity in order to give some inspiration for the majority of English learners,researchers and readers.
